It may not feel like it outside, but we've arrived at June's front door, and I've been told by a trustworthy source that warm weather is on the horizon. So with that in mind, we’ve included some al fresco Experiences where your dog is also welcome plus some Queen Jubilee specials to make the most of this celebratory weekend.
Hold up, what’s a Local Experience?
If you’re new here, you probably have no idea what a Local Experience is, so allow me the pleasure... Local Experiences is the name of Yonder’s credit card rewards program.
- You earn points every time you spend on your Yonder card, and those points can then be used to pay for a reward - a meal or some tickets for example - in full
- We host no more than 10 rewards in the app each month, and on the 1st day of the new month we shake these up a little
- Some stick around for another month, others disappear. We’ll make it clear in the app when each Experience expires so you shouldn’t be surprised
You can read more about how they work in our recent blog post here.
Introducing June’s Local Experiences
The Hawk's Nest
Locations: Shepherd's Bush
Experience: 1500 points gets you £30 worth of food and drink
A hidden garden nestled alongside Goldhawk Road’s railway arches, serving pizza, pints and cocktails seven days a week. We're talking Margaritas, Margheritas, Quiz Tuesdays, Acoustic Wednesdays and a very special 4 day event to celebrate the Queen's Jubilee this weekend - bottomless PIMM'S and pizza, a live DJ on Saturday and a Street Market on Sunday. It's worth travelling West for...
Señor Ceviche
Location: Soho
Experience: 2500 points gets you £60 worth of food and drink
A Nikkei Peruvian restaurant and Pisco bar on the first floor of Kingly Court serving street food snacks, super-fresh ceviches, fiery Peruvian barbecue and healthy super salads. The lunch special and weekend bottomless brunch are worth going for. The Pisco Sours are pretty tasty too, and in honour of QEII, Señor has created 'The Tipsy Queen', a Pisco Sour with a purple royal twist - I'll let you find out what that means.
Mr Ji
Location: Soho
Experience: 4000 points gets you £90 worth of food and drink
We at Yonder like Mr Ji so much we’ve named one of our meeting rooms after an item on the menu. Think of your favourite Asian dish, add a little twist, and you’ve probably come up with something Mr Ji himself would create. Take my word and order the salted plum negroni whilst you ponder what to order to eat. Take my second word and order the prawn toast. Mr Ji stuffs brioche with prawns, sweetcorn and béchamel sauce. Need I say more?
Friends of Ours
Location: Hoxton
Experience: 2000 points gets you £45 worth of food and drink
A top brunch spot in East London serving Dark Arts coffee, Dusty Knuckle pastries, an inventive all-day menu and cocktails. It's a sunny slice of Down Under catering for all your needs (Jubilee Weekend hangovers included) every day from 8am-5pm (9am on the weekends). You can't book this hotspot so get there in good time to bag a table in the sunshine.
Wild by Tart
Location: Belgravia
Experience: 4500 points gets you £100 worth of food and drink
Wild by Tart is where you come for fresh, seasonal and sensational food. The menu is relaxed, using big flavours and ingredients that are sourced locally where possible, including from the founders’ farms in Somerset and Gloucestershire. Their focaccia is the best in London, and you can’t say no to the cookie skillet for dessert, sweet tooth or not. Oh, and your dog is also welcome here.
Pidgin
Location: Hackney
Experience: 9500 points gets you the tasting menu + pairings for 2 people, worth £270
Likely you’ve never been before, but if you have, I bet my bottom-dollar you won’t get the same food. That’s because this unique gem of a restaurant serves a weekly changing menu, meaning that since opening in 2015 they’ve never repeated a dish. Ever. So I can’t tell you what to order (they decide for you) but I can guarantee that whatever you eat will be stunning, both in presentation and taste.
Homeslice
Locations: Marylebone, Neal’s Yard, Shoreditch & City
Experience: 1500 points get you £45 worth of pizza and drinks at Homeslice
20 inches of cheesy, doughy goodness. That’s right, 20 inches! A pizza of that size feeds two comfortably, and if you can’t agree on the topping with your pizza partner, no problemo ‘cause toppings can be split 50/50. I’m biased but the mushroom, ricotta, chilli & truffle oil pizza is pretty darn tasty.
Breddos Tacos
Location: Clerkenwell
Experience: 3500 points get you £100 worth of food and drink
A taqueria in Clerkenwell, serving up tacos, tostadas and Mexican small plates, accompanied by margaritas and mezcals. Expect plates of fresh produce and fragrant flavours, with a side of vinyl music and a huge helping of other excitable and hungry foodies. Order the Queso Fundido and Tuna Tostada to start, followed by one of each taco and a cocktail (or two) for good measure.
Hampton Court Palace Festival
Location: South West London
Experience: 4500 points get you 2x tickets to see McFly (15.06) or Ministry of Sound Classical (18.06)
For 3 weeks every June, Henry VIII’s stunning Tudor Courtyard is transformed into the stage for a magical music festival in London. We’ve got performances from McFly (Wednesday 15th June) and Ministry of Sound Classical ft. Fat Tony & Seb Fontaine (Saturday 18th June) lined up in this intimate setting. With a number of street food vendors and bars onsite, you’ll have to make an evening out of it, because let’s be honest, how often do you get the chance to picnic in the Palace gardens?!
